Through Personal, Social and Health Education, we aim for all pupils at St. Peter’s CE Primary to develop a love of lifelong learning in order to be safe, healthy and successful.  By following the JIGSAW PSHE programme throughout school, we promote self-esteem, responsibility, relationships, respect and how to be part of different communities.  This gives our children the confidence and understanding when having new experiences or facing life’s challenges to know that ‘nothing is impossible with God’.

We place strong emphasis on emotional literacy, building resilience and nurturing mental and physical health through the delivery of our curriculum.  We continuously assess the implementation of our PSHE programme through talking to the children, lesson visits and the use of the Jigsaw Journals.  Through our curriculum, we enhance our whole school vision, enabling our children to become patient, kind, respectful and confident individuals.

Each year group studies six themes over the course of the year and childrens’ knowledge is built upon every year as they re-visit these:

  • Being me in my world
  • Celebrating differences
  • Dreams and goals
  • Healthy me
  • Relationships
  • Changing me
