PSHE
Through Personal, Social and Health Education, we aim for all pupils at St. Peter’s to develop a love of lifelong learning in order to be safe, healthy and successful. By following the JIGSAW PSHE programme throughout school, we promote self-esteem, responsibility, healthy relationships, respect and how to be part of different communities. This gives our children confidence and understanding when negotiating new experiences or facing the challenges that life brings.
We place strong emphasis on emotional literacy, building resilience and nurturing mental and physical health through the delivery of our curriculum. We continuously assess the implementation of our PSHE programme through talking to children, visiting lessons and using the JIGSAW assessment materials. Through our PSHE curriculum, we enhance our whole school vision, enabling our children to become patient, kind, respectful and confident individuals.
Each year group studies six themes over the course of the year and children’s knowledge is built upon every year as they re-visit these:
- Being me in my world
- Celebrating differences
- Dreams and goals
- Healthy me
- Relationships
- Changing me
