SCHOOL DAY

Our school day starts at 9.00am.

The school doors open at 8.45am and the children can be dropped off and come into school and into class from this time, to enable a prompt start to sessions. For reasons of safety, children should not arrive, or be left unaccompanied, before this time. Children in Reception and Year 1 should use the classroom doors at the front of the school, nearest their teaching area. In order to encourage independence, children come into school, hang their coats and bags up and go into class by themselves. Class teachers will greet you and your child at the gates.

Children in Years 2, 3 and 4 enter school through the central pupil entrance (to the left of the main office entrance) and children in Years 5 and 6 take the path around the left hand side of the building to enter school through the playground door at the rear of school.

For reasons of safety and security, the children’s entrance doors are closed at 8.55am. Should you arrive later than that, or need to collect or return your child after an appointment, please use the main entrance. Late arrivals are registered electronically; it is a Telford & Wrekin requirement that we keep a record of lateness, in addition to absences, which is regularly checked by our Education Welfare Officer.

Morning Break 10.30-10.45am

Children play outside unless weather conditions are particularly bad. They are supervised at all times.

Lunch 12.00-1.00pm

Children may bring sandwiches or have a school lunch. Games and activities are organised for children outdoors.  We believe it is important that children get plenty of fresh air and exercise.

Afternoon Break 2.00 – 2.15pm (Reception and Key Stage 1)

The school day ends at 3.15pm.

Each teacher dismisses their class to waiting parents/carers from the main school gates at the end of the day. Reception children are dismissed from the gate outside their classroom. Children should be collected at 3.15pm. If you are going to be late or there are any alterations to the usual collection arrangements, please contact the school and let us know what arrangements have been made for collection.

In the interest of safety, please take care when arriving, parking and leaving school. Please be aware that children are around when manoeuvring and have due consideration for our neighbours. We do encourage local children to walk to school rather than use cars, or to share wherever possible. There is a cycle rack available at the front of school for children who wish to travel to school by bicycle/scooter. Please avoid parking for long periods outside school and causing obstructions to driveways. Additional parking is available at the Pavilion (opposite the village hall).
